Residential areas in RW 05, RW 06, and RW 07 of Hamlet II, Margalaksana Village, face environmental cleanliness problems associated with the accumulation of dry leaves and plastic waste, compounded by limited waste disposal facilities. This community service activity aimed to encourage residents' participation in maintaining environmental cleanliness through the Jumat Bersih (Clean Friday) movement, locally known as Jumsih. The activity adopted the participatory Community Empowerment System (SISDAMAS) approach during the university community service program across three community units comprising eight neighborhood units. The activities included environmental observation, coordination with local community leaders, weekly communal clean-up activities, and descriptive qualitative evaluation through observations and informal interviews conducted before and after implementation. Based on field observations, approximately 5–10 residents from different age groups participated per community unit in each session. The results showed a visible reduction in accumulated dry leaves and plastic waste at the cleaned locations. Informal interviews also provided insights into residents' responses to environmental cleanliness and emerging initiatives to maintain cleanliness outside scheduled activities. However, behavioral changes could not be quantitatively established because the evaluation did not employ structured assessment instruments. This activity demonstrated community involvement in maintaining environmental cleanliness, although participation remained limited and the sustainability of these efforts requires further support and monitoring.
