Abstract

Critical thinking skills are essential for students to enhance their understanding and achieve good learning outcomes. This research aims to analyze students' critical thinking skills on ecosystem material with and without using the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by a Virtual Field Trip. This research method is a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group design. The independent variable in this study is learning using the Problem Based Learning model assisted by a Virtual Field Trip, and the dependent variable is students' critical thinking skills. Sampling was carried out using the Purposive Sampling technique with a total of 36 students in the experimental class and 36 students in the control class. The data obtained were analyzed using N-gain. The analysis results showed that the average N-gain scores for the class with and without using the PBL model assisted by a Virtual Field Trip were 0.77 (high category) and 0.45 (medium category), respectively. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the use of the PBL learning model assisted by Virtual Field Trip media significantly improves students' critical thinking skills on ecosystem material.
